RESEARCH PLAN

Objective: Evaluate the current proposed site navigation to develop an intuitive and user-friendly navigation for CP24 (Web).

Methodology: A multi-phase card sorting exercise that sought to understand how users perceive and create intuitive navigations.

  1. Phase 1: Open Card Sort (n = 10)
    • Explained the context of the CP24 news site navigation menu, users were given a complete list of L1s and L2s, without information as to which was what
    • Users were then asked to group like headings together and create category names for each in an unmoderated user interview
  2. Phase 2: Intermediate Analysis
    • Watching the unmoderated interviews, grouping patterns were noted
    • Based on these results as well as known business priorities, a new proposed navigation was developed
  3. Phase 3: Closed Card Sort (n = 10)
    • The new proposed navigation was validated through unmoderated user interviews

Users were given L1s and L2s, with information about which was what, and asked to sort L2s under their respective L1s
